Applications are invited for the above post of Consultant in Department of Medicine for Older People, based at Worthing Hospital part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will join a highly regarded Department with a regional reputation for excellence.
This is a replacement post. It will therefore allow a diversity of sub-speciality interests by negotiation. This could include continuing to develop the assessment of Older People with frailty presenting as emergencies by focusing the new Consultant at the front door on the Frailty Zone in the Emergency Floor and in A&E. It could also assist in the further development of our dementia services, surgical liaison or onc-geriatrics. This job description has been designed to reflect the development of either of these services. The post holder will work with the multi-disciplinary team and Physician colleagues across the Trust.
Our hospitals are all situated along the beautiful Sussex coast, nestled against the South Downs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to London and Europe.
All newly appointed Consultants are mentored, via the “Mentorship scheme for senior medical staff”.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining Specialist Registration at the time of interview.
Applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post.
All applicants are required to provide the names and contact details of a minimum of three clinical referees including one from the current employer (or most recent employer if not currently working) to cover the last three years of employment. The referees should be individuals who have a management responsibility for you, eg, Chief of Service, Clinical Director, Educational or Clinical Supervisor.
